Description:
The Dana 60 king pin arm is designed to remove the spring that applies pressure to the nylon bushing to maintain tension on the lower tapered bearing.
Why go springless?
Reason:
In order to stop spring collapse that occurs with large heavy tire assemblies.
The spring collapse allows the knuckle to drop which causes wear on the lower bearing and nylon bushing and allows dirt and water to enter the assembly. The drop that results causes added stress on the axle due to the creation of a compound angle at the u-joint.
